“The history of Hocking County through a human geographer’s eyes”
This presentation was created by Tyler McDaniel. Tyler is the president of the Little Cities of Black Diamonds Council. He has also given numerous historic presentations for Little Cities of Black Diamonds, Appalachian Understories, the Hocking County Historical Society, and various Ohio University classes.
This presentation was given at the History Center on Thursday, November 16th. Tyler’s goal was to bring his audience a discussion of Hocking County’s history presented through his lens as a human geographer.
As you go through these slides, keep in mind the following questions:
How have the people who have resided within the boundaries of Hocking County, from thousands of years ago to present day, been impacted by the physical geography and geology around them? In what ways has the interconnectedness of different industrial eras within Logan and Hocking County built upon one other over time? And how have these eras have shaped the residents’ lives thus far?
