Join us Thursday, April 19th at 6:00pm for an evening with author Mindy McGinnis as she shares the research behind her Edgar Award-Winning Gothic historical thriller, A MADNESS SO DISCREET. Learn about how doctors treated brain injuries in the 1890’s and the different aspects of care for the mentally ill – for better or for worse. Also included is a brief history of The Athens Lunatic Asylum, the setting for the novel.
This event is part of our Athens Asylum Sesquicentennial Series and is made possible, in part, with the support of Ohio Humanities. Other sponsors include Ohio University, the City of Athens Historic Preservation Commission, the Athens County Commissioners, and BDT Architects and Design.
