WHERE: ATHENS CO. HISTORICAL SOCIETY & MUSEUM
WHEN: SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 9TH FROM 1-2pm
On Sunday, November 9th from 1-2pm we will welcome Katherine Ziff, author of Asylum on the Hill: History of a Healing Landscape. Ms Ziff will discuss aspects of the “moral treatment” period in the history of mental health services in Ohio after the Civil War and into the late 1800’s. It was during this period when the Athens Asylum and many other large asylums were built, some using the noted Kirkbride Plan, in Ohio and across the nation.
This program is free and open to the public. We hope you will join us!
