Settling Ohio: First Peoples and Beyond

Book Talk and Signing

Scholars working in archaeology, education, history, geography, and politics tell a nuanced story about the people and dynamics that reshaped this region and determined who would control it.

Please join us at the Southeast Ohio History Center on Thursday, October 19th at 5:30pm for a book talk and signing with Settling Ohio’s editors, Brian Schoen and Tim Anderson! Copies of Settling Ohio: First Peoples and Beyond will be available for purchase the night of the event.

Brian Schoen’s research and teaching focus on the political, social, economic, and intellectual history of the early United States from its early struggles through its near dissolution in the midst of the Civil War. Tim Anderson is a historical geographer with research and teaching focus on the historical settlement geography of the United States, the historical settlement geography of Ohio during the early National period, and the production of cultural landscapes associated with Germanic Diasporas, especially in North America and Europe.

Copies of their book are available at the History Center and will also be available on the evening of the book signing. The Southeast Ohio History Center is located at 24 West State Street in Athens, Ohio.
