Current Exhibit

The Southeast Ohio History Center has a rotating exhibit floor, so there is always something new to explore. We are dedicated to sharing the stories of the Southeast Ohio region, and we are excited to share our current exhibit with you.

Our exhibit showcases artist Kimberly Chapman’s work in companionship with artifacts from the Athens Asylum, which are part of our collections. Chapman’s Eighty-Six Reasons is an exploration of the way early asylums treated women.

Can I see your collections?

The collections department is available by appointment only. Southeast Ohio History Center is happy to assist researchers wishing to see stored artifacts and images. However, we ask that researchers make an appointment so that staff has time to extract desired items and work with the researcher to properly handle fragile items.
